Based on what you’ve learned about marketing’s core concepts over the term, what do you think of its role in the economy?

Let’s also consider issues of ethics in marketing. For example, is it ethical to market cigarettes, a product known to trigger addiction and create serious health risks? 

How ethical is advertising aimed at children? How ethical is it, for example, to pay retailers to place sugar-laden cereals at eye level of young children while healthier cereals are place on higher shelves?

Is it ethical to market shoes made in Asian factories in which workers are made to work six or seven days a week, with mandatory overtime? These conditions would not be allowed in North America or Europe.
